Rocket League Ball Amigurumi Pattern: Geeky Crochet

Rocket League Ball Amigurumi Pattern: Geeky Crochet

Back in 2008 a little game called Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars was created and although it developed a loyal fanbase, it didn’t sell particularly well. I am guessing that the name had something to do with that. While Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars never became a hit, you are probably familiar with its’ much more successful sequel Rocket League. For those of you who are not familiar with Rocket League it is basically soccer but you use cars instead of traditional soccer players.

That might sound like a weird combination of mechanics but I can attest that it works. I honestly can’t think of any recent games that I have put even close to as much time into as Rocket League since at this point I have put well over 100 hours into it. With how much I enjoy Rocket League I decided to create an amigurumi for the game. Since it would be impractical to make a Rocket League car I went with the next best thing: a Rocket League ball.

This pattern creates a Rocket League ball with a diameter of around five inches. Of all of the patterns I have made so far, this pattern is probably the most difficult due to all of the small little pieces that you have to make to complete the ball.

Part Four: Inner Circle Connectors

You will create three inner circle connectors for each patch.

Start with the darker gray used for the base.

Round 1: CH X 4 (4 stitches), flip

Round 2: SC X 3 (3 stitches)

Fasten off leaving enough yarn to sew onto the inner hexagon.

Assembly

To begin the assembly of the large patch you will be attaching the inner circle, and the inner circle connectors to the inner hexagon piece. You can either attach the inner circle connectors to the inner circle and then attach the whole piece to the inner hexagon or you can attach each piece separately. When attaching the inner circle connectors they should be evenly spread around the inner circle. After attaching the inner circle and inner circle connectors you can use some black yarn to add the lines that go from the outside of the hexagon to the circle in the center.

Next the inner hexagon is attached to the base. When attaching the inner hexagon try to place it in the center of the base.
