Objective for UNO Disney Princess Little Mermaid Ariel
The objective of UNO Disney Princess Little Mermaid Ariel is to be the first player to get rid of all of the cards from your hand.
Setup for UNO Disney Princess Little Mermaid Ariel
- Choose a player to be the dealer. They will shuffle the cards.
- Deal seven cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards facedown on the table to form the Draw Pile.
- Flip over the top card from the Draw Pile to form the Discard Pile. If the card you flip over is an Action Card (anything other than a number card), you will flip over the next card.
- The player to the left of the dealer starts the game. To start the game turn order will move clockwise.
Playing UNO Disney Princess Little Mermaid Ariel
On your turn you will try to play one of the cards from your hand to the Discard Pile. In order to play a card it has to match one of the following:
- Color
- Number
- Symbol
If you have a card that matches one or more of these criteria, you can play it to the Discard Pile. Should you play an Action Card, you will take the corresponding action (see the Cards of UNO Disney Princess Little Mermaid Ariel section below for more information).
If you have no cards in your hand that match any of the criteria, you will add the top card from the Draw Pile to your hand. Should you be able to play the card you just drew, you can play it immediately.
Sometimes you may want to draw a card even though you have a card in your hand that you can play. In this case you will draw a card from the Draw Pile and add it to your hand. The only card that you may play on your turn is the card you just drew.
Should the Draw Pile ever run out of cards, you will shuffle the Discard Pile to form a new Draw Pile.
After you play or draw a card, play passes to the next player in turn order.
Cards of UNO Disney Princess Little Mermaid Ariel
Number Cards
Number cards do not have a special action. You can only play them if they match the number or color of the top card on the Discard Pile.
Draw Two
When you play a Draw Two card, the next player in turn order has to draw two cards. They will also lose their next turn.
Reverse
A Reverse card flips the direction of play. If play was moving clockwise, it will now move counterclockwise. If play was moving counterclockwise, it will move clockwise.
Skip
When you play a Skip card, the next player in turn order loses their turn.
Wild
The Wild card matches every other card in the game so you can play it at any time. When you play a Wild card, you can choose the color for the Discard Pile.
Wild Part of Your World
The Wild Part of Your World card is unique in that it can be played at any time. If a player plays a card that you want and you have a Wild Part of Your World card in your hand, you may play the card out of turn. The card can also be played on your own turn. You will then take the last played card and add it to your hand. You must play your Wild Part of Your World card before the next player takes their action.
The card is also wild so you get to pick the color of the Discard Pile.
Play then continues with the player who would have taken the next turn if you didn’t play the Wild Part of Your World card.
Wild Draw Four
The Wild Draw Four is wild so it can be played on top of any other card. There is a catch to the card though. You may only play a Wild Draw Four if you have no cards in your hand that match the color of the Discard Pile. Wild cards count as matching.
When you play a Wild Draw Four, the next player in turn order has a choice to make.
They could decide to accept that the card was played correctly. In this case they will draw four cards and skip their turn.
Otherwise they could challenge the play of the card. Should they challenge, the player who played the Wild Draw Four has to show the challenger all of the cards from their hand. This is so they can verify that the card was played correctly. The outcome of the challenge comes down to whether the card was played correctly.
If the player (who played the Wild Draw Four) did not have a card that matched the color of the Discard Pile, the challenging player now has to draw six cards. They will also still lose their turn.
If the player (who played the Wild Draw Four) did have a card that matched the color of the Discard Pile, the player who played the Wild Draw Four has to draw the four cards.
In either case the Wild Draw Four is treated as a wild. Therefore the player who plays it gets to pick the color for the Discard Pile.
Calling UNO
When you only have one card left in your hand, you must yell “UNO”. You need to do this to let the other players know that you are close to winning the game.
If someone should catch you not saying UNO before the next player takes their turn, you are forced to draw two cards.
Winning UNO Disney Princess Little Mermaid Ariel
The player that plays the last card from their hand, wins the game.
Keeping Score
If you would like to play multiple hands, you can choose to keep score.
The player that wins a hand collects all of the cards left in the other players’ hands. They will score points for each card they collect as follows:
- Number cards – face value
- Skip, Reverse, Draw Two – 20 points
- Wild, Wild Draw Four, Wild Part of Your World – 50 points
Each player keeps a running total of the points they score in the game. The first player to score 500 points wins the game.
