Objective of Pop for Blends
The objective of Pop for Blends is to acquire the most popcorn cards by the end of the game.
Setup
- Place all of the popcorn cards inside the box and mix them up. Place the box in the middle of the table.
- Set the spinner on the table where everyone can reach it.
- Choose a player to start the game.
Playing Pop for Blends
You will begin your turn by drawing a popcorn card from the box. On the card will be a blend or digraph (beginning of word).
Next you will spin the spinner. The number you spin on the spinner is the number of words that you have to come up with that use what was on the card you drew.
If you successfully come up with enough words, you will keep the popcorn card which will score you a point at the end of the game.
Should you not be able to come up with enough words, you will set the card aside in a pile called “un-popped” cards.
Whether you successfully complete the card or not, the next player in turn order takes their turn.
POP Cards
Some of the cards in the game feature the word “POP”. These cards are unique and are used differently than the other cards.
Whenever you draw a POP card, you will return all of the cards you earned on previous turns to the box. You will then set the POP card aside as it will no longer be used for the rest of the game.
Winning Pop for Blends
Players will keep taking turns until the last card is taken from the box.
At this time all of the players count up how many popcorn cards they have in front of themselves. The player with the most popcorn cards wins the game.
Double-Pop
After the game has ended you should take a look at the cards added to the “un-popped” pile. The players should try to come up with words that use these blends or digraphs.
