    • 1 – M50
    • 4 – M100
    • 2 – M500

Setup for Monopoly Friends

How to Play Monopoly Friends The TV Series

You will begin your turn by rolling both of the dice. You will move your token clockwise around the board the number of spaces you rolled on the dice.

Movement in Monopoly Friends
The first player rolled six on the dice. They move their playing piece clockwise six spaces around the gameboard.

Depending on what space you landed on, you will take an action. See the section below corresponding to the space you landed on.

Should you roll doubles on the dice, you will take another turn. If you roll doubles three times on your turn though, you will immediately go to jail.

Rolling doubles
The current player rolled doubles. They will move their token ten spaces and take the action corresponding to the space they landed on. They will then roll the dice again and take another turn.

When you finish your turn, play passes to the player on your left.

Spaces of Monopoly Friends The TV Series

Unowned Moment

When you land on a property/moment that is not owned by any player, you have a choice to make.

First you can choose to purchase the deed for yourself. You will pay the bank the amount printed on the space. You will then take the corresponding deed card and place it face up in front of yourself.

Purchasing a moment
This player landed on a moment that no one owned. They decide to purchase it for M100. They will then take the corresponding title deed card.

If you don’t want the moment for the listed price, you can pass on purchasing it. In this case the property will be auctioned off by the Bank. All of the players can bid in the auction. The bidding can start as low as M1. Players will keep raising the bid until no one wants to raise. The player who bids the highest pays the bank the amount they bid. They will then take the moment deed card.

Owned Moments

If you own the moment, you do not do anything. Your turn then ends (unless you rolled doubles).

Paying Rent

Should another player own the moment you landed on, you owe them rent for landing on the space. The owner looks at the deed card to see how much rent you owe. They must tell you what you owe before the next player rolls the die. If they don’t alert you soon enough, you don’t owe them the rent.

If the moment is mortgaged, you do not owe rent.

Should the owner not own all of the moments of the color, you owe what is printed on the deed card.

Landing on a moment owned by another player
This player has landed on the “All the Wedding Dresses” space. This space was owned by another player. For landing on the space, the player owes the owner M12.

Should the owner have all of the moments of the corresponding color, you will owe double what is printed on the deed card.

Landing on a monopoly
This player has landed on a space that is part of a monopoly owned by another player. They will owe the owner M24.

If coffee mugs or a sofa has been added to the moment, you will owe the corresponding amount from the deed card.

Landing on a moment that has coffee mugs
The current player landed on a moment that has two coffee mugs on it. They will owe the owner M180.

Transport Spaces

Transport spaces charge rent based on how many of the spaces you own.

  • 1 Transport – M25
  • 2 Transports – M50
  • 3 Transports – M100
  • 4 Transports – M200
Landing on Transport space
This player landed on a transport space that is owned by another player. That player also owns another transport space so they will owe M50.

Utility Spaces

Should you land on an owned utility you will roll the die. The number you roll on the die determines how much rent you owe.

If the owner only owns the utility you landed on, you will multiply your roll by four.

Landing on an owned utility space
This player landed on Treeger’s Water Maintenance which was owned by another player. They roll a five on the die. They owe the owner M20.

If the owner owns both utilities, you will multiply your roll by ten.

Apartment 19 space

Apartment 19 and Apartment 20

When you land on one of these spaces, you will take the top card from the corresponding pile on the gameboard. You will read the card out loud and take the corresponding action. After you have taken the action you will return the card to the bottom of the corresponding pile.

Apartment 19 card
The player that drew this Apartment 19 card collects M20 from the Bank.

Should you draw a Get Out of Jail Free card, you will keep it. You can play the card whenever you need it to get out of jail, or you can sell/trade it to another player.

Lose at Football space

Central Perk Tab and Lose at Football

Should you land on one of these spaces, you will pay the Bank the amount printed on the space.

Free Parking space

Free Parking

Free Parking does nothing when you land on it. You do not collect any money, and you do not have to pay any money.

GO space

GO

Whenever you land on or pass GO, you will collect M200 from the Bank.

Go to Jail space

Go to Jail

When you land on the Go to Jail space, you immediately move your token to the Jail space. You do not collect M200 for passing GO.

You can also go to Jail based on an Apartment 19/20 card, or if you roll doubles three times on your turn.

Whenever you are forced to go to Jail, your turn ends immediately.

Getting Out of Jail

You can get out of Jail in three ways.

First you can pay M50 to the Bank. You then take your turn normally.

Next you can use a Get Out of Jail Free card. You can either use one you already own, or you can buy/trade for one owned by another player. After you play the card, it is returned to the bottom of the corresponding deck. You will then take your turn normally.

Finally you can try to roll doubles in order to get out. If you roll doubles, you get out of jail for free. You will move your token with the number you rolled. If you fail to roll your way out of Jail after the third attempt, you will be forced to pay M50 to the Bank. You will then move your token forward spaces equal to the number of your last roll.

Get Out of Jail
The player that is currently in Jail can get out by either paying M50, using a Get Out of Jail Free card, or rolling doubles.
Just Visiting space

Just Visiting

Nothing happens when you land on this space. You should make sure you place your token so it is on the Just Visiting section of the space.

Build Coffee Mugs and Sofas

When you acquire moments, you will try to collect all of the moments of the same color. If you collect all of the moments of a color, you have created a monopoly. Once you have created a monopoly, you can charge double the normal rent for any of the moments of the color.

You also have the opportunity to purchase coffee mugs and sofas to place on the spaces in a monopoly. You can only do this if none of the moments in the color group are mortgaged. If any of them are mortgaged, you can’t purchase coffee mugs or sofas for any of the spaces in the group.

Placing Coffee Mugs

First you will purchase coffee mugs for each moment. The cost for each coffee mug is printed on the deed card.

Buying a Coffee Mug
A player owns all three orange spaces. They have decided to place a coffee mug on the “Ross’ Teeth space”. The coffee mug costs M100.

When you are placing coffee mugs on the moments in your monopoly, you must place them evenly. Basically you can’t place a second coffee mug on a moment until the rest of the moments of that color already have one coffee mug on them.

How to play coffee mugs
The owner of the orange spaces has placed two coffee mugs on two of the spaces and only one on the third space. Before they can place a third coffee mug, they need to place a second coffee mug on “All the Thanksgivings.”

Placing Sofas

Once you have placed four coffee mugs on all of the moments of a color, you can place a sofa on each space. Its cost is printed on the deed card. After you pay the cost, you will remove the four coffee mugs from the space and replace it with a sofa space. Each moment can only have one sofa.

Placing a sofa
The owner of the orange spaces has placed four coffee mugs on each of the spaces. They can now spend M100 to place a sofa on the spaces.

If you would like to purchase a coffee mug or a sofa and none are available, you have to wait until someone sells one back to the Bank. If two or more players want to purchase a coffee mug/sofa and there aren’t enough for everyone, you will auction them off. Whoever bids the most pays the Bank what they bid and takes the corresponding coffee mug/sofa.

Selling Coffee Cups and Sofas

If you need cash you can sell off coffee mugs and sofas. You will sell them back to the Bank at half of the price printed on the deed card. If you sell a sofa, it will be replaced with four coffee mugs. When you sell off coffee mugs and sofas, you need to sell them off evenly. For example you have four coffee mugs on each space. You need to sell the fourth coffee mug off each space before you you can sell the third coffee mug off a space.

Trading

At any time during the game you can buy/sell/or trade with the other players. You may only buy/sell/trade a moment if there are no coffee mugs or sofas on the space. If you want to trade a space that has coffee mugs or a sofa on it, you must sell them to the Bank before you trade/sell it.

When trading with another player you can make a deal for cash, deed cards, Get Out of Jail Free cards, or any combination of the three. You cannot add “promises” to a trade with another player. If all of the players in the deal agree to a trade, the trade is completed.

Should you sell/trade a mortgaged property to another player, the buyer can unmortgage it right away by paying the list price plus 10%. If they don’t want to unmortgage it right away, they still owe the 10% of list price to the bank. When they unmortgage the moment on a future turn, they will owe the 10% again.

Run Out of Cash

If you do not have enough cash to cover what you owe the Bank or another player, you will have to try and raise some money.

First you can sell any coffee mugs or sofas that are on your moments. You will receive half of what you paid for them. You will return the coffee mug/sofa to the Bank and collect the corresponding amount of cash from the Bank.

Mortgaging

Otherwise you can try to trade/sell or mortgage your moments. Before you can mortgage any moment, you must sell all of the coffee mugs and sofas off all of the spaces in the color group. When you mortgage a moment you will turn it face down. You will collect the amount shown on the back of the card from the Bank.

Mortgaging a property in Monopoly Friends
The owner of “All the Candy” needed money so they decided to mortgage the property. They will receive M110 for the property. They cannot earn any rent from the space before they unmortgage it. To unmortgage the deed they have to pay M110 plus 10% (M11).

To pay off a mortgage on a moment you owe the list value plus 10% to the Bank. After you pay you can turn the card face up.

Bankruptcy

Any cash you are able to collect goes to the player/Bank that you owe money to. If you can’t pay off the entire amount you owe, you have to declare bankruptcy. You are eliminated from the game.

If you couldn’t pay another player everything you owe them, you will give them all of the moments and Get Out of Jail Free cards that you still control. The moments stay on the mortgage side.  The new owner of those moments has to pay 10% of the list value of the moment to the Bank to pay off the interest on the mortgage. They have to pay this amount even if they don’t intend to immediately pay off the mortgage. If they want to pay off the mortgage they also owe the Bank the list value. If they don’t want to pay off the mortgage right away, they will have to pay the 10% of the list value again in addition to the list value.

Should you still owe money to the Bank, the Bank takes all of your moments. They will immediately put them up for auction. Whoever wins the auction pays the Bank and takes the corresponding deed card turning it to the face up side. Any Get Out of Jail Free cards are returned to the bottom of the corresponding deck.

Winning Monopoly Friends The TV Series

The game ends as soon as all but one of the players have been eliminated from the game. The last remaining player wins the game.
