How to Play Catch The Fox Board Game (Rules and Instructions)

In Catch the Fox you play as a farmer. A greedy fox keeps trying to steal all of your prize chickens. Thankfully the fox is really greedy. It will keep stealing chickens until its pockets are so full that its pants fall down. This is your chance to save your chickens. You need to grab them as quickly as possible and return them to your coop. The goal is to save your chickens faster than the other players.

Objective of Catch The Fox

The objective of Catch the Fox is to be the first player to save five chickens and fill up your chicken coop.

Setup

Raise the fox’s arms.
Turn the fox over and pull the string under its feet.
Pull the pants up around the fox’s waist. You will have to adjust the pants so the pockets are accessible.

Place all of the chickens into a pool in the middle of the table.
Each player takes a chicken coop.
The player who makes the best clucking sound will get to go first.

Playing Catch The Fox

On your turn you will roll the die. The number rolled on the die will determine how many chickens you will place in the fox’s pockets.

Roll Die in Catch the Fox — This player rolled a one on the die. They will place one chicken inside the fox’s pockets.

You may choose to place the chickens inside any of the fox’s pockets.

Placing A Chicken in a Pocket — The player placed a chicken into one of the fox’s pockets.

Before ending your turn you will then press down on the fox’s head until it makes a clicking noise. If nothing happens, play moves to the player to your left.

Pressing on Fox's Head — This player has placed the chicken in the fox’s pocket. They will now press down on the fox’s head.

If there are no chickens left to place inside the fox’s pockets, players will take turns pressing down on the head until the pants fall down.

Fox’s Pants Drop

One of the times that you press down on the fox’s head, the pants will fall down spilling chickens out onto the table.

Fox Dropped Pants — The fox’s pants have dropped. The players now will race to try and pick up the chickens as quickly as possible.

All of the players will race to save the chickens as fast as possible. Players will grab one chicken at a time (with one hand) and place it into their chicken coop.

Placing Chicken in Coop — This player grabbed a chicken and placed it into their coop.

If no one has acquired enough chickens to win, the game continues. Any chickens that the players have already placed inside their coop will stay in place. The fox is reset and players will continue rolling the die.

End of Round in Catch the Fox — This player was able to grab three of the chickens that the fox dropped. They will get to keep these three chickens in their coop.

Winning Catch the Fox

The first player to fill their chicken coop with five chickens wins the game. If two players fill their coop at the same time, both players will win the game.
