Playing Guess in 10: Animal Planet

On your turn the other team draws one of the game cards and holds it so you can’t see the side featuring the animal. They will begin by reading off the first two buzzwords printed below the picture of the animal.

Elephant card from Guess in 10: Animal Planet
For this round the player is trying to guess an elephant. The player looking at the card has to say the buzzwords strong and mammal to the other player/team.

You/your team then has the opportunity to ask up to ten different questions to try and figure out what animal is printed on the card. You can ask pretty much any question you want to try and figure out information about the animal. The only restriction is that the question can only be answered with yes or no. Therefore you cannot ask any question that has to be answered with anything other than yes or no.

If you ask a question and the player holding the card doesn’t know the answer, the question you asked does not count as one of your ten questions.

To get some additional help, you can choose to use one of your clue cards on your turn. Check out the Clue Cards section below for more details.

Using a clue card
This player needs a clue to help them figure out the animal on the card. They will turn in one of their clue cards in order to get a clue.

Your turn ends whenever you have made your two guesses at the identity of the animal. See the section below for more details. Play then passes to the other player/team.

Guessing the Animal on the Card

At any time on your turn you can make a guess about the identity of the animal. You have the opportunity to make two guesses on your turn.

If both of your guesses are wrong, you lose the game card. The card is discarded and your turns ends.

If you guess correctly on one of your two guesses, you have a choice to make. You will have the opportunity to try and answer the bonus question. The bonus question gives you the opportunity to receive a benefit for your next turn. If you choose the bonus question, you must answer it.

Answering the bonus question on a card
The player correctly guessed that the card was for an elephant. If they choose to answer the bonus question, they have to spell elephant backwards.

If you answer the bonus question correctly, you will keep the game card from the current round. You also will get to hear all three buzzwords for the card on your next turn.

If you answer the bonus question incorrectly, you lose the game card that you just earned by correctly guessing the animal. You also don’t get to hear all three buzzwords for your next card.

Should you choose not to hear the bonus question, you get to keep the game card you earned from correctly guessing the animal.

Clue Cards

At the beginning of the game you receive three clue cards. You can use these cards at any time during the game. You should choose the best time to use them though as you will not receive anymore for the rest of the game.

To use a clue card you will place it in the middle of the playing area. You will then choose a number from one to three. The other player/team reads the clue from the card that matches the number that you chose.

Receiving a clue in Guess in 10: Animal Planet
After using the clue card, the player chose clue two. The person holding the card will read off the #2 clue “I have a trunk that I use to breathe and grasp things!”.

Should the clue you chose only give you information that you already obtained from the questions you asked, you can choose one of the other clues.

After you receive the clue, you will discard the clue card that you used.
