Grouch Couch Board Game Rules Explained With Pictures

Objective of Grouch Couch

The objective of Grouch Couch is to collect the most Lost Goodies during the game.

Setup

Insert three AAA batteries into the bottom of the couch.
Lift the center cushion and load in the 15 Lost Goodies. After you have inserted all of the Lost Goodies, close the cover on the center cushion.

Placing the Lost Goodies inside the couch cushion — The Lost Goodies have been placed inside the couch cushion. You will then press down on the cover until it snaps into place.

Place the treats on the table in a pile near the couch.
Turn the switch on the bottom of the couch to on the on (|) side.
The youngest player starts the game.

Playing Grouch Couch

Each turn consists of three steps:

Roll the Die
Place Treats
Press the Remote Control

Roll the Die

To start your turn you will roll the die. What you roll on the die determines what you will do for the rest of your turn.

Rolling a vacuum cleaner — This player has rolled the vacuum cleaner. They will roll the die again to determine how many Lost Goodies they can steal from the other players.

If you roll a vacuum cleaner, you get to take a special action on your turn. Roll the die again until you roll a number. The number you roll determines how many Lost Goodies you can take from the other players. You can take the Lost Goodies from one player, or you can split the amount between several players.

Placing Treats

Most of the time you will roll a number. When you roll a number pick up the corresponding number of treats from the table and place them on Grouch Couch. You can choose any treat (color doesn’t matter), and you can place them wherever you want on the couch.

If there is ever not enough treats, you will pick up the treats from behind the couch and add them to the pile of treats you can pick from.

Pressing the Remote Control

Once you have placed all of the treats, you will press the button on Grouch Couch. It will start moving around. As it is moving some of the treats you placed on the couch might fall into the cushions.

If Grouch Couch likes what you fed it, it may launch out a Lost Goodies disc(s). You will collect any Lost Goodies that is tosses out.

Receiving a Lost Goodies Disc in Grouch Couch — The couch shot out a Lost Goodies disc after it ate one of the treats. The current player takes the Lost Goodies disc.

Winning Grouch Couch

The game ends when Grouch Couch sings a victory song.

All of the players count up how many Lost Goodies they have at the end of the game. The player with the most Lost Goodies wins the game.

Winning Grouch Couch — The top player received the most Lost Goodies during the game. They have won the game.

If there is a tie, place all of the treats on the couch. The tied players will then take turns pressing the remote control. The first player to get Grouch Couch to eat wins the game.
