Objective

The objective of Frosty the Snowman Follow the Leader is to work with the other players to successfully complete enough Parade tiles by the end of the game.

Setup

  • Place the Frosty tile on the table. Arrange the Kid Tiles in numerical order to the right of Frosty. Each kid has a number on the back of the tile indicating their number.
  • Separate the Frosty cards based on the number in the top right corner. Shuffle each deck separately.
  • Place the second Frosty deck on the Frosty Tile and then place the first Frosty deck on top of those cards.
  • Each player will draw a number of cards from the Frosty deck. The number of cards you will draw depends on the number of players.
    • 2 Players – Three Cards Each
    • 3-4 Players – Two Cards Each
  • Place your cards face-up in front of yourself.
  • Take the Parade Tiles and mix them up. Place them in a face-down pile on the table. Flip over the top tile which you will use at the start of the game.
  • Choose whether you are going to play the easy, medium, or hard game. The only difference is the number of Parade Tiles that you have to complete.
  • The youngest player starts the game. Play passes clockwise/left throughout the game.

How to Play Frosty the Snowman Follow the Leader

The objective on each of your turns is to make a move that helps rearrange the Kid Tiles so they exactly match the order from the face-up Parade Tile. Most of the actions will move a kid forward or backwards one space. You may also swap the position of two kids.

On your turn you will choose one action to take. You have the option of taking one of three actions.

  1. Move a Kid
  2. Swap
  3. Discard

Move a Kid

The first action that you can take your turn is to move one of the Kid Tiles.

In your hand you will have either two or three Frosty cards. Most of these cards feature one of the kids from the parade.

For your action you can choose to play one of these cards. You will then look for the corresponding Kid’s Tile. You can move that tile either one space forward/left or backward/right.

Playing a kid card to move them one space
The current player played a blue card which allows them to move the corresponding kid forward or backward one space.
Moving a kid forward one space
Since the kid in the blue shirt is in the fourth position on the Parade Tile, the player moved the kid forward one space. The kid is now in the correct position to match the Parade Tile.

If a Kid Tile is at the front of the line, you can only move them backwards. Should the Kid Tile already be at the back of the line, you can only move it forward.

After you move the kid, you will discard the card you played.

Swap

The second potential action you can take on your turn is to do a swap.

If you and one of the other players have a Frosty card that matches two kids that you want to swap, you can play both of them at the same time. The two corresponding Kid Tiles will swap positions. Each tile moves to the position held by the other tile.

Swap Kid Tiles by playing two cards
The current player and another player played a red and pink card. They have decided to swap the positions of the corresponding Kid Tiles.
Swapping the positions of two Kid Tiles
After swapping the positions of the red and pink girl, the pink girl is now in the first position. This matches the Parade Tile.

After you swap the Kid Tiles, you will discard the two kid cards. Both players who played a card draw a new one to replace the one they played.

Discard

Your final option is to discard all of the cards from your hand. When you take this action, you will draw as many new cards as you discarded.

Hocus Pocus card

Hocus Pocus Card

The Hocus Pocus card is unique as it is wild. When you play the card, you can use it as any other kid. This allows you to move any of the kids forward or backwards one space. Otherwise you can use it along with another kid card played by another player to swap the position of two kids.

Using the Hocus Pocus card to swap two kids
The current player played a Hocus Pocus and a purple card. They have decided to swap the positions of the purple and red cards.
Using the Hocus Pocus card
After using the Hocus Pocus card the purple and red tiles have moved to their correct positions according to the Parade Tile.

End of Turn

After you take one of the actions, you will draw a card to replace the card that you played. If you took the swap action, the other player that played a card also draws another card. Should you take the discard action, you will not draw another card.

You will then look to see if you successfully matched the order of the kids on the Parade Tile. If the order of the kids exactly matches the Parade Tile, you will set the Parade Tile to the side and reveal the next tile.

Completing a Parade Tile in Frosty the Snowman Follow the Leader
The players have successfully placed all of the Kid Tiles into the correct positions to match the Parade Tile. The players have completed the Parade Tile. They will reveal a new tile to show their next objective.

Play then passes to the next player clockwise/left.

Winning Frosty the Snowman Follow the Leader

The game ends when there are no other Frosty cards to draw, and all of the players have played every card from their hand.

You will count up how many Parade Tiles the players were able to complete. Whether you win or lose the game depends on how many Parade Tiles you were able to complete and how many you needed to collect based on the difficulty you chose.

  • For the easy game you need to complete at least three of the Parade Tiles.
  • In a medium game, you need to complete at least four Parade Tiles.
  • For a hard game, you need to complete all five Parade Tiles.

If you complete enough Parade Tiles to meet the requirements, all of the players win the game. If the players are unable to complete enough, all of the players lose the game.
