Objective of Connect 4 Blast!
The objective of Connect 4 Blast! is to get four of your colored discs in a row.
Setup
Place the gameboard on the table in front of the players. Both players should be on the side of the board that says “front”.
Flip the feet out in order to stabilize the gameboard.
Flip the loading tray up so it is above the grid.
Slide the lock on the bottom of the grid to the right. This lock keeps the discs from falling out of the bottom of the grid.
Place blue discs in the loading tray. You should fill the grid up with blue discs.
Next you will randomly fill in the loading tray with the yellow and red discs. You will randomly choose a colored disc as well as a random column to place it in. Keep doing this until all of the red and yellow discs are inside the loading tray.
Loading the Blasters
Each player chooses a color. One player will play as yellow and one will play as red. Take the blaster and darts corresponding to the color you chose. To load your blaster you will take one of your colored darts. You will insert the dart into the front of the blaster. Push the dart back as far as it will go.
Along the bottom of the blaster is a lever. Pull the lever until it locks into place. The gun is now ready to shoot.
The players will decide how far away they will stand from the grid. The further away you stand, the harder the game will be. Both players will stand the same distance away from the grid.
Playing Connect 4 Blast!
Connect 4 Blast! is a real-time game. Both players will play at the same time. There are no turns. Players can shoot their guns as quickly as they can reload them. On the count of three, both players can start shooting their darts at will.
When aiming your gun you are trying to hit discs to pop them out of the grid. Popping discs out of the grid opens up spaces for new discs to enter the grid. You are trying to get four of your colored discs in a row. You may shoot at any color disc including your own color.
Knocking Out A Disc
If you knock out a disc, all of the remaining discs in the column will slide down one spot in the grid. The lowest disc hidden by the loading tray will then fall into the top spot of the column.
When you knock out a disc, what you do next depends on its color. If the disc is blue, it will remain where it fell out of the grid.
If a player shoots out a red or yellow disc, the player that knocked it out will pick it up. They will then get to choose one of the columns of the loading tray to drop it into. The player must insert the disc into the loading tray before they can take their next shot.
When a disc is hit it may only partially get knocked out of the grid. If a disc is partially stuck in the grid, it is treated like it was knocked out. You will pop the disc out of the grid and treat it like you would if it was fully knocked out.
Players will keep shooting darts at the grid until someone wins the game.
Winning Connect 4 Blast!
Connect 4 Blast! ends when one of the players is able to connect four of their discs in the grid. You can win if you get four discs vertically, horizontally, or diagonally in a row.
If both players get four in a row at the same time, the game continues until the tie is broken. The tie can be broken by a player getting a second Connect 4, or a player losing their Connect 4 due to a disc being shot out.
