Number cards

Numbers

Number cards have no special action in the game. You can only play a number card if it matches the color or number of the top card on the Discard Pile.

Cards with the Passing Symbol on them

Some number cards in UNO Teams! do have a special “Passing Symbol” on them though. Specifically one of each card numbered 1-5 from each color have the symbol. When you play one of these cards, you and your teammate choose one card from your hand to pass to your teammate.

Draw Two card

Draw Two

When you play a Draw Two card, the next player in turn order has to draw two cards. They also lose their turn.

You can play a Draw Two card on top of another Draw Two card or a card that matches its color. If a Draw Two card is played against you, you cannot play your own Draw Two card to avoid the punishment and pass it on to the next player.

Reverse card

Reverse

The Reverse card changes the direction of play. If play was moving clockwise, it will now move counter-clockwise. When play is moving counter-clockwise, it will move clockwise.

You may play the Reverse card on top of another Reverse card, or a card that matches its color.

Skip card

Skip

When you play a Skip card, the next player in turn order loses their tun.

You can play a Skip card on top of another Skip card, or a card that matches its color. When a Skip card is played against you, you may not play your own Skip card to avoid the effect of the card.

Wild card

Wild

The Wild card matches every other card in the game. You may play a Wild card even if you have another card in your hand that you can play.

After playing the Wild card, you will choose the color for the Discard Pile. You can choose any of the four colors including the color it was when you played the card.

Wild Team Draw Four card

Wild Team Draw Four

The Wild Team Draw Four card is wild so it matches every other card. You may play the card at anytime. In most versions of UNO you can only play a Wild Draw Four if you have no cards in your hand that match the color of the Discard Pile. This restriction is not in UNO Teams!. You can play the card even if you have a card that matches the current color.

After playing the card the next player in turn order draws two cards. The next player’s teammate also draws two cards. The teammate has to draw the two cards even if they currently have no cards in their hand. The next player in turn order also loses their turn.

Since the cards is wild, the player that plays it chooses the color for the Discard Pile. They can choose any of the four colors.

Wild Team Play card

Wild Team Play

The player who plays the Wild Team Play card chooses a color. They must choose the color without consulting their teammate.

Play then immediately skips to their teammate. If their teammate can play a card, they will play the card and play then continues with the next player in turn order after them.

Playing a card matching the color chosen for the Wild Team Play card
The player that played the Wild Team Play card chose the color green. Their teammate was able to play a green card. The player after the teammate takes the next turn.

Should the teammate not be able to play a card, the player who played the Wild Team Play card must draw two cards. Play then continues with the next player after the teammate that was unable to play a card.

Teammate did not have matching color for the Wild Team Play card
The player who played the Wild Team Play card chose red for the color. Their teammate did not have a card that they could play. Therefore the player who played the Wild Team Play card has to draw two cards. Play continues with the next player after the teammate.

what if it play a wild team card but your partner is out?

The rules don't specifically say what happens in this situation. I am not the designer of the game, so I can't give you a definitive answer.

The rules specifically say that if your partner can't play a card, you must draw two cards as a penalty. Since they have no cards, they can't play a card. Therefore you would have to draw two cards. This is how I would probably handle the card. The Wild Team Draw Four card says that a player has to draw a card even if they are currently out of the game, which I think reinforces that it doesn't matter that the player is out of the game for the Wild Team Play card. While a player is currently out of the game, they can easily get back into the game so I don't think it matters that they currently don't have any cards. I would say this is the "letter of the rules" interpretation of your question.

I could see the argument that you don't have to draw the two cards since it would be impossible for them to play a card since they don't have any. I would call this the spirit of the rules interpretation of your question.

Since there isn't an official answer to this question, it comes down to how your group wants to interpret the rules. I personally would say that you would have to draw the two cards since the rules don't mention an exception when your teammate has no cards. Therefore you are better off playing all of your Wild Team Play cards before your teammate is out of cards. If you group prefers not imposing the penalty though, I see that as a valid interpretation of the rules as well.
