Setup

  • Choose a player to be the dealer. They will shuffle all of the cards.
  • The dealer then deals seven cards to each player.
  • Place the rest of the cards facedown in the middle of the table to create the Draw Pile. Turn over the top card and place it next to the Draw Pile to create the Discard Pile. If you turn over an Action Card (anything that isn’t a number card), you will ignore its effect and flip over another card.
  • The player to the left of the dealer starts the game. Play moves clockwise to start the game.

How to Play UNO Jurassic World Rebirth

On each of your turns you will try to play a card from your hand to the Discard Pile. In order to play a card, it has to match one of three elements of the top card on the Discard Pile.

  • Color
  • Number
  • Symbol

If you have a card that matches at least one of the above attributes, you can play it to the Discard Pile. If you have multiple cards that you can play, you choose which card you want to play.

Playing a card in UNO Jurassic World Rebirth
The top card on the Discard Pile is a red three. Along the bottom are examples of some cards you could play. You can play the red two because it matches the color. The three can be played because it matches the number. Finally the Wild, Wild Attack of the T. Rex, and Wild Draw Four can be played because they are wild.
Playing a Reverse card on a Reverse card
The top card on the Discard Pile is a Reverse card. The current player could play another Reverse card because it matches the symbol.

Should you play an Action Card, you will take a special action. See the Card Meanings section below for details on what each card does.

If you have a card that you can play but you don’t want to play it, you can choose not to play it. In this case you will treat the rest of your turn like if you didn’t have a card that you could play.

Drawing a Card

If you don’t have a card that you can play or you choose not to play one, you will draw the top card from the Draw Pile. Look at the card that you just drew. If you can play this new card, you can immediately play it to the Discard Pile.

If you can’t play the new card, add it to your hand.

Should the Draw Pile ever run out of cards, you will take the cards from the Discard Pile and shuffle them to form a new Draw Pile.

End of Turn

Your turn ends after you either player a card or draw and add a card to your hand. Play passes to the next player in turn order. To start the game play moves left/clockwise. This can change once a Reverse card is played.

UNO Jurassic World Rebirth Card Meanings

Number cards in UNO Jurassic World Rebirth

Number Cards

Number cards have no special action. You can only play them if they match the color or number of the top card on the Discard Pile.

Draw Two card

Draw Two

When you play a Draw Two card, the next player in turn order has to draw two cards. They also lose their turn.

You can play a Draw Two card on top of another Draw Two card, or a card that matches its color. If a Draw Two card is played against you, you cannot play your own Draw Two in order to pass the cards onto the next player.

Reverse card

Reverse

The Reverse card changes the direction of play. If play was moving clockwise, it will now move counterclockwise. If play was moving counterclockwise, it will now move clockwise.

Reverse cards can be played on top of other Reverse cards or cards that match its color.

Skip card

Skip

When you play a Skip card, the next player in turn order loses their turn.

You can play a Skip card on top of another Skip card, or a card that matches its color. If a Skip card is played against you, you cannot play your own Skip card to avoid losing your turn.

Wild card

Wild

Wild cards match every other card in the game. You can play the card on any of your turns, even if you have other cards that you can play. When you play a Wild card, you choose the Discard Pile’s color. The next player has to play a card that matches the new color, or their own wild card.

Wild Attack of the T. Rex card

Wild Attack of the T. Rex

When you play a Wild Attack of the T. Rex card, you will choose a color. The next player in turn order must reveal a card from their hand that matches the chosen color. If they can’t play a card that matches the chosen color, they have to draw five cards and they lose their turn.

If the next player has a card that matches the chosen color, the next player in turn order has to show a card that matches the chosen color. This continues with players showing a matching card until one of the players are unable to play a card. They will draw five cards.

Using a Wild Attack of the T. Rex card
The player that played the Wild Attack of the T. Rex card choose blue. The player on the left had a blue card, so they don’t have to draw any cards. The next player in turn order is the player on the right. They do not have a blue card, so they have to draw five cards.

If all of the players besides the player who played the Wild Attack of the T. Rex card show a matching card, the player who played the original card has to draw the five cards.

The color chosen becomes the color for the Discard Pile.

Wild Draw Four card

Wild Draw Four

The Wild Draw Four matches every card. You can only play the card though if you have no other cards in your hand that match the color of the Discard Pile. Wild cards are considered matches for the color. After playing the Wild Draw Four and any potential challenge is resolved, you will choose the color for the Discard Pile. The color you choose has no impact on any potential challenge.

When you play the Wild Draw Four, the next player in turn order has a decision to make.

They can accept that you played the card correctly. In this case they will draw four cards and they will lose their turn.

Playing a Wild Draw Four card
The current player played a Wild Draw Four card on top of a green one. The next player in turn order either has to draw four cards and lose their turn, or they have to challenge.

If they choose to challenge the player who played the Wild Draw Four card has to show their entire hand to the challenger. This is so the challenger can confirm that the card was played correctly.

If the player played the card correctly (they did not have any matching color cards), the challenging player has to draw a total of six cards instead of the normal four cards. They also still lose their turn.

Playing a Wild Draw Four card correctly
The player that played the Wild Draw Four card had a blue eight and three, and a yellow two. They did not have any green cards. They played the card correctly, so the challenger now has to draw six cards.

If the player played the Wild Draw Four incorrectly (they had a matching color card), the player that incorrectly played the card has to draw the four cards. The challenger doesn’t have to draw any cards, and they get to take their turn normally.

Playing a Wild Draw Four Incorrectly
The player that played the Wild Draw Four card had a green four in their hand. Therefore they couldn’t play the Wild Draw Four. They will draw the four cards instead of the challenger.

Calling UNO

When you only have one card left in your hand, you need to call out “UNO”. This is to let the other players know that you are close to winning the game.

If you fail to say UNO and another player catches you before the next player begins their turn, you have to draw two cards.

Calling UNO
This player only has one card left in their hand. They have to call out UNO in order to avoid having to draw two cards.

Winning UNO Jurassic World Rebirth

The game ends when a player plays the last card from their hand. The player who played all of their cards, wins UNO Jurassic World Rebirth.

Scoring

Normally you will play each hand as its own game. You can also choose to keep score if you want to play a multi-hand game.

When a player plays the last card from their hand, they will collect all of the cards left in the other players’ hands. If the last played card forces a player to draw cards, they will draw the cards before the winner takes the cards. The winner scores points for each card they collected as follows:

  • Number Cards – Face Value
  • Draw Two, Reverse, Skip –  20 points each
  • Wild, Wild Attack of the T. Rex, Wild Draw Four – 50 points each
Scoring in UNO Jurassic World Rebirth
The winner of the hand collected these cards from the other players. They will score eleven points for the top three cards (2 + 4 + 5). The Draw Two, Reverse, and Skip cards each score 20 points. Finally the Wild, Wild Attack of the T. Rex, and Wild Draw Four cards each score 50 points. The winner scores a total of 221 points this round.

Write down the points that the winner earned. You will then play another hand. The first player to reach 500 or more points, wins UNO Jurassic World Rebirth.
