Numbers
Number cards have no special effect in the game. You can only play a number card if it matches the color or number of the card on top of the Discard Pile.
Draw Two
Whenever you play a Draw Two card, the next player in turn order has to draw two cards. They also lose their turn.
You can play a Draw Two card on top of another Draw Two card, or a card that matches its color. If a Draw Two card is played against you, you cannot play your own Draw Two card in order to avoid the punishment.
Reverse
The Reverse card changes the direction of play. When play is moving clockwise, it will change to counterclockwise. Should play be moving counterclockwise, it will change to clockwise.
You can play a Reverse card on top of another Reverse card, or a card that matches its color.
Skip
When you play a Skip card, the next player in turn order loses their turn.
You can play a Skip card on top of another Skip card, or a card that matches its color. If a Skip card is played against you, you cannot play your own Skip card in order to avoid the punishment.
Wild
The Wild card matches every other card in the game. Therefore you can play it at any time.
When you play the Wild card, you will choose a color for the Discard Pile. You can choose any of the four colors including the color it was when you played the card. The next player in turn order has to play a card that matches the color you chose, or their own wild card.
Wild Draw Four
The Wild Draw Four card is wild so it matches every other card in the game. There is a catch to the card though. You can only play the card if you have no other cards in your hand that match the color of the Discard Pile. Wild cards are considered matches for the color. You can play the Wild Draw Four card if you only have cards that match the number or symbol of the top card on the Discard Pile.
By playing the Wild Draw Four card, you can choose the color for the Discard Pile. The color you choose has no impact on any potential challenge.
After you play the Wild Draw Four, the next player in turn order has a choice to make. First they can choose to accept that the card was played correctly. In this case the player draws four cards and they lose their turn.
Challenging a Wild Draw Four
If the next player decides to challenge the play of the Wild Draw Four, the player who played the card has to show all of the cards from their hand to the challenger. The challenger is looking for a card that matches the color of the Discard Pile before the Wild Draw Four was played.
If the next player does not find a card that matches the Discard Pile’s color, they lose the challenge. They now have to draw six cards and they lose their turn.
Should they find a card in the player’s hand that matches the Discard Pile’s color, they win the challenge. The player that played the Wild Draw Four now has to draw four cards. The challenger does not have to draw any cards and they do not lose their turn.
Wild Ohana
When the Wild Ohana card is played, all of the players count up how many cards that they have in their hand.
Any player that has more than four cards in their hand, chooses a number of cards from their hand to discard until they only have four cards left. They will place the cards underneath the Wild Ohana card.
Any player that has less than four cards has to keep drawing cards until they have four cards in their hand.
The Wild Ohana card is also wild which means you can play it at anytime. You also get to choose the color for the Discard Pile.
