Objective
The objective of The Magic Labyrinth is to be the first player to collect five magic symbols by successfully navigating the maze.
Setup
- If the pieces haven’t been punched out of the Labyrinth Grid yet, you need to punch them out.
- Place the bottom of the box in the middle of the table.
- Insert the Plastic Base inside the bottom of the box.
- Put the Labyrinth Grid in the Plastic Base.
- Setup the maze by inserting the wooden walls into the Labyrinth Grid. You can setup the maze however you want. The more walls you use, the more difficult the game will be. The game has two recommended setups which are pictured below.

- Once you have finished placing all of the wooden walls, you will put the Garden Level Gameboard on top of the Labryinth Grid.
- Put all of the Magic Symbol Chips in the cloth bag. Draw one chip from the bag and place it on its corresponding space on the gameboard.
- Rotate the box a few times so players don’t know what the maze underneath the board looks like. While doing this you are supposed to say “Labyrinth, labyrinth, turn around, walls disappear, ways will be found!”
- Each player chooses a pawn and a metal ball. Place your pawn in the corner closest to you. If there are only two players, players should start in opposite corners.
- Put the ball below your pawn underneath the gameboard. It should attach to the magnet in the pawn and stay in place.
- The youngest player goes first.

How to Play The Magic Labyrinth
On your turn you will try to move your pawn around the gameboard to reach the Magic Symbol Chip. While moving your pawn though, you need to be careful and try to avoid the wooden walls placed underneath the board.
To begin your turn you will roll the die. The number you roll determines how many spaces you can move your pawn. You can choose to move less spaces than you roll. When moving your pawn you can move left, right, up, or down. You can also change directions. You can never move diagonally. When moving you need to slide your pawn and not pick it up from the board. If you pick it up from the board, the ball will fall off the magnet on your pawn. You cannot “test” a direction to see if a wall is there before you move your pawn.

While moving you can move through a space that another player is on. You should move your pawn slowly though so you don’t knock the ball off either of the pawns. Two pawns cannot occupy the same space at the end of a turn though.
Should you finish moving your pawn and the ball is still attached to it, your turn ends.
Play then passes to the next player. The game does not specify if play passes clockwise or counterclockwise.
Ball Falls Off
If the ball falls off your pawn because you try to move through a wall, your turn ends. The ball should roll into one of the corners of the gameboard. Collect the ball. You can use your pawn to get the ball out of the corner easier. Return your pawn to your starting corner. Attach the ball to your pawn underneath the board. On your next turn you will move from your starting corner.

Collecting a Magic Symbol
When a player moves onto a space that has the Magic Symbol Chip, their turn ends even if they have movement remaining. They will collect the Magic Symbol Chip and place it in front of them. All of the pawns remain on their current spaces.

The next player grabs a new Magic Symbol Chip from the bag and places it on its corresponding spot on the gameboard. Do not spin the board. It is only spun at the beginning of the game.

If a player is already on the space that the new Magic Symbol Chip is placed on, that player takes the chip immediately. Another chip is drawn and is placed on its corresponding space.
Winning the Game
The first player to collect five Magic Symbol Chips wins The Magic Labyrinth.
