Objective

The objective of Suspend Junior is to play all of your pieces to the frame before the rest of the players.

Setup

  • Place the wooden base on a flat surface.
  • Attach the metal rod with a hook to the top of the wood base. Place the other two metal rods into the sides of the wooden base.
  • Find the white piece and attach it to the hook on the metal rod.
  • Divide the pieces equally between the players. Each player should have the same number of pieces of each color. Set aside any extra pieces as you won’t use them in the game.
  • The youngest player starts the game.

How to Play Suspend Junior

You will begin your turn by spinning the spinner. Most spins involve you placing pieces on the frame. There are a few rules that you must follow when placing pieces.

  • You can only use one hand to place each piece.
  • Once you remove your hand from a piece, that placement is complete and you can no longer touch the piece.
  • You can hang a piece from any notch or straight line on a piece already attached to the frame. You cannot hang a piece from the same section of a piece as another piece that has already been placed. Should a piece slide so two are on the same section, you will keep the pieces where they end up.
Incorrectly placing a piece
Two pieces have been placed on the same bend of the orange piece. This is not allowed. The second piece added to the area would have to be removed and moved to a different area.
  • Should you place a piece that makes any part of a played piece touch the table, you must reposition the piece you just placed.
  • Whenever you place a piece and it knocks down one of more pieces from the frame, you must add any pieces that were knocked off to your own pile of pieces.
A piece falls off the frame
A piece has fallen off the frame. The last player to place a piece has to add it to their pile of pieces.
  • Should you break any of the above rules, you must take back the piece that you were trying to place. Your turn then ends.

After you have taken the action corresponding to what you spun, your turn ends. Play passes to the next player in turn order. The instructions do not say whether play passes left or right during the game.

Playing pieces to the frame
The players have taken a few turns adding pieces to the frame.

Spinner

What you spin on the spinner determines what you will do on the rest of your turn.

Spinning a color

Whenever you spin a color, take one piece of the corresponding color from your pile. You will try to place the piece on the frame. If you do not have any pieces of the color you spun, you will skip the rest of your turn. In the above picture the player spun orange so they will try to add one of their orange pieces to the frame.

Spin +1 on the spinner

Should you spin +1 you will choose one piece of any color from your pile. You will try to place the piece on the frame.

Spin +2 on spinner

The +2 space on the spinner allows you to choose two pieces of any color from your pile to try and place on the frame.

Spin 0 on spinner

Whenever you spin the zero, your turn ends without you placing any pieces on the frame.

Spinning -1 on the spinner

Finally should you spin the -1 section on the spinner, you will choose one piece from the frame to remove. Once you have removed the piece, you will add it to your pile. If there are no pieces on the frame except for the white starter piece, you will skip the rest of your turn.

Winning the Game

Suspend Junior ends when one player plays the last piece from their pile. They will win the game. All of the players get to take the same number of turns, so the rest of the players will take their turn before the game ends.

Should two players place their last piece in the same round, you will play a tiebreaker to determine who wins the game. You will reverse the turn order. Starting with the last player to play a piece, each player removes one piece from the frame. The players keep taking turns removing one piece at a time. Should a player ever make one or more pieces fall off the frame, they are eliminated from the game. Once all of the pieces have been removed from the frame, whichever player removes the most pieces wins the game.
