Objective
The objective of Monopoly Super Mario Celebration! is to be the last player with coins left at the end of the game.
Setup
- Choose a player to be the Banker. The Banker can still play the game, but they must keep their coins and Title Deed cards separate from the Bank. The Banker is in charge of:
- The Bank’s coins
- Toad Houses
- Peach’s Castles
- Unowned Title Deed cards
- Auctions
- The Banker gives each player five 5 coins and five 1 coins.
- Place the gameboard in the middle of the table.
- Set the Question Block on its space on the gameboard.
- Shuffle the Community Chest Cards and place them on the corresponding space on the gameboard.
- Each player chooses a token and puts it on the GO space.
- All of the players roll the die. Whichever player rolls the highest number starts the game. Play moves clockwise throughout the game.

How to Play Monopoly Super Mario Celebration!
You will begin each turn in Monopoly Super Mario Celebration rolling the die. The number you roll on the die determines how many spaces you will move your token. Move your token the corresponding number of spaces clockwise around the gameboard.

After you have finished moving your token, look at the space you landed on. You will take an action corresponding to the space that your token landed on. See the corresponding space section below for details on what you need to do.
After you have finished taking the action of the space you landed on, your turn ends. Play passes to the player on your left.
Spaces of Monopoly Super Mario Celebration!

Unowned Properties
When you land on a property, check to see if a player owns it. If no one owns the space, you have a choice to make.
First you can choose to purchase the property. Look at the price printed on the space. Pay the corresponding number of coins to the Bank to purchase it. You will take the Title Deed for the property to show that you now own it.

If you don’t want the property, it will be auctioned off by the Banker. Bidding for the property starts at 1 coin. Any of the players can bid on it. Players can keep raising the bid by at least 1 coin. There is no turn order to bidding. You can bid whenever and whatever you want. When no one is willing to raise the bid, the auction ends. Whoever bid the most pays the Bank what they bid and takes the Title Deed card.
Should no one bid on the property, the Title Deed stays with the Bank.

Owned Properties
When you land on a property owned by a player, you potentially will have to owe rent. If you own the property, you will take no action. Should you land on another player’s property, you owe them rent as long as the owner asks for rent. If they never ask for rent before the next player rolls the die, you don’t owe them rent anymore.
The amount you owe in rent is determined by the Title Deed card for the property. Look at the section of the card that corresponds to the current situation for the property. If the player only owns that one property of the color, you will pay the rent printed at the top of the card.

If the owner has both properties of the color, they can charge double the normal rent (second rent amount on the card).

Should the owner place Toad Houses or Peach’s Castle on the property, they can charge the rent corresponding to what is placed on the property.

Bowser Jr. and Magikoopa
The Bowser Jr and Magikoopa spaces are a little different than normal properties. When you owe rent on them, you will roll the die. The number you roll determines how mush rent you owe.
If the player only owns one of the spaces, you will pay coins equal to the amount you rolled. If the player owns both spaces, you will pay coins equal to double the amount you rolled.

Chain Chomp and Piranha Plant
The Chain Chomp and Piranha Plant spaces require you to pay the corresponding number of coins to the Bank when you land on them.

Community Chest
Whenever you land on a Community Chest space, you will take the top card from the deck. Read the card out loud and follow its directions.

After you complete the action from the card, return the card to the bottom of the deck. Your turn then ends.
Should you draw a card that lets you keep it until you want to use it, you can hold onto the card until a future turn. After you use the card, you will return it to the bottom of the deck.

Free Parking
Should you land on the Free Parking space, you will not take any special action.

GO
When you land on or pass the GO space, you collect 2 coins from the Bank.

Go to Jail
Whenever you land on the Go to Jail space, you will immediately move your token to the Jail space. You do not collect 2 coins from passing GO. Your turn then immediately ends.

While in Jail you can still collect rent, bid in auctions, buy Toad Houses and Peach’s Castles, mortgage properties, and trade with other players.
On your next turn you have one of three options.
First you can pay 5 coins in order to get out of Jail. You will then roll the die and take your turn normally.
If you have a Get Out of Jail Free card, you can choose to play it. Place the card at the bottom of the Community Chest deck. You will then roll the die and move your token normally.
Finally you can choose to roll the die. Should you roll a six, you immediately get out of Jail for free. Move your token six spaces around the gameboard. If you don’t roll a six, your turn ends.

You have three turns to try and roll to get out of Jail. If you fail to roll a six on your third turn, you have to pay 5 coins to the Bank and you will use your last roll to move around the gameboard.

Just Visiting
Should you land on the Just Visiting space, you will not take a special action. Make sure to keep your token on the Just Visiting section of the space.

Question Block
The Question Block spaces give you a special action when you land on them. Press the ? on the plastic Question Block and listen to the sound that plays. If the sound no longer works or the Question Block is missing, you can roll the die to determine the special action. See below for what each die roll means.
If you hear a coin ping (roll a 1 or 2), you will take 1 coin from the Bank for each ping you hear. From the video above, you can hear three coins, so you will take three coins from the Bank.
Should you hear the power-up ring (roll a 3 or 4), you will roll the die and move your token the corresponding number of spaces. You will take the action corresponding to the space you move to.
When Bowser laughs (roll a 5), you pay the Bank 5 coins.
Finally if you hear the “Game Over” sound (roll a 6), you have to pay the Bank 10 coins.
Purchasing Buildings
Once you acquire both properties of the same color, you have the ability to purchase buildings for the color set that you own. You can purchase buildings on other player’s turns.
You will begin by purchasing Toad Houses. Look on the Title Deed card for the cost of a Toad House. Pay the Bank the corresponding number of coins. Then take one of the Toad Houses and place it on one of the properties in the color set.

When building Toad House on a color set, you need to build evenly. For example you build a Toad House on one of the properties. Before you add another Toad House to that property, you need to first build one on the other property in the color set. No property may have more than one additional Toad House than the other property in the color set.
Once you have built four Toad Houses on both properties in a color set, you can build Peach’s Castle. You will pay the cost for the castle shown on the Title Deed card. Before you place Peach’s Castle, return the four Toad Houses to the Bank. You can only build one Peach’s Castle on each property.

If one or both of the properties in a color set are mortgaged, you cannot build any buildings on either property in the color set.
Should the Bank have only one Toad House or Peach’s Castle left and multiple players want it, an auction will be held to determine who gets it. Bids start at 1 coin. Whoever bids the most gets the building to place on one of their properties after they pay the Bank.
Once all of the Toad Houses or Peach’s Castles are gone, no one may build another one until one gets sold back to the Bank.
Trading
Throughout the game you can buy, sell or trade properties with the other players. Before you can sell or trade a property, you must sell all Peach’s Castles and Toad Houses from the property back to the Bank.
When trading with other players you can use coins, property, and Get Out of Jail Free cards. You may trade mortgaged properties, but the player who acquires them must unmortgage them. No future favors or other things can be part of a trade. If both players agree to the trade, all agreed items are traded between the two players.
Can’t Pay
If you ever owe money and don’t have enough to pay off your debt, you need to try and raise money in order to pay it off. To make some money you can either try and sell buildings, or mortgage properties.
Selling Buildings
Should you sell Peach’s Castle back to the Bank, replace it with four Toad Houses. You will receive half of its cost from the Bank. If the cost is odd, you will round up.
When you sell Toad Houses, you will receive half of its cost back from the Bank. If the cost was odd, you will round up. When selling Toad Houses, you must sell them evenly between the properties in a color set. Basically no property in a color set can have more than one additional Toad House than the other property.

Mortgaging Properties
Before you can mortgage a property, you must sell off all of the buildings from all of the properties in the color set (see above). You will then turn over the Title Deed card to the other side. The Bank will give you money equal to the mortgage value from the back of the card.

While a property is mortgaged, you cannot collect rent from it. If you only mortgage one of the two properties from a color set, you can still collect the higher value from the other property. This applies to the Magikoopa and Bowser Jr spaces as well.
In order to unmortgage properties you will pay the “unmortgage cost” to the Bank. After you pay the Bank, you will turn the Title Deed back to the faceup side.
Bankruptcy
If after selling buildings and mortgaging properties you still don’t have enough money to pay off your debt, you have to declare bankruptcy. What you will do in bankruptcy depends on who you owe money.
If you owe another player, you will give them all of your mortgaged properties and any Get Out of Jail Free cards. The new owner can pay to unmortgage the properties at any time.
Should you owe money to the Bank, you will return all of your properties to the Bank. The properties are no longer mortgaged. The properties will then be immediately placed up for auction. Any Get Out of Jail Free cards are returned to the bottom of the Community Chest deck.
Winning Monopoly Super Mario Celebration!
The players will keep playing until all but one player declares bankruptcy. The last player remaining wins the game.
