- Set all of the Experience Chips facedown in the middle of the gameboard. You should mix them all up.
- Each player chooses a playing piece, and places it on the GO! space.
- Place the dice near the gameboard.
- The player with the most student debt starts the game. Play move clockwise/left during the game.

How to Play Monopoly For Millennials
You will begin each of your turns rolling the two dice. You will move your token the corresponding number of spaces clockwise around the gameboard. Based on the space you land on, you will then take an action. See the corresponding space section below for details on what each space does in the game.

If you roll doubles (the same number on both dice) you will roll the dice again and take another turn. Should you roll doubles three times on your turn, your turn immediately ends. You move your token to the Jail space.
During the game you can make deals with the other players. You can buy, sell, or trade Destinations with other players at any time. Deals can only include Destinations, cash or Get Out of Jail Free cards. The deal is approved if all of the players in the deal agree to it. You can never buy, trade or sell Experience Chips.
Your turn then ends. You will pass the dice to the player on your left.

Undiscovered Destinations
When you land on a Destination that has not been discovered/owned by another player, you can choose to either discover or pass on it.
If you want to discover/purchase the Destination, look at the price of the space on the gameboard. You will pay the corresponding price to the Bank. Then take the corresponding Destination card and place it in front of you.

Should you collect all of the Destinations of a color, you will receive more Experience for the set at the end of the game.
Should you choose not to discover/purchase the Destination, you can pass on it. Unlike other Monopolies, there is no auction for the Destination if you choose not to purchase it.

Discovered Destinations
Should you land on a Destination that another player Discovered/purchased, you will pay them the Visit cost shown on the Destination card. If you do not have enough money to visit, nothing happens. Neither player collects an Experience Chip.
Additionally you and the owner of the Destination each get to take one of the Experience Chips from the pile in the middle of the gameboard. You can look at the chip you picked up, but you shouldn’t show them to the other players. The Experience you collect determines who wins at the end of the game. Most of the Experience Chips are positive, but some are negative.

Bike Share
When you land on a Bike Share space, you can choose to move to any space on the gameboard. You have to pay the Bank to move though. If you move to any space between your current space and the next Bike Share space, you owe M10. If you want to move further, you will pay M10 plus another M10 for each Bike Share space you pass.

Should you pass GO using a Bike Share space, you do not collect M20.

Chance
Should you land on a Chance space, you will draw a card from the top of the Chance deck. Read the card and do what it says. After you take the action, place the card at the bottom of the Chance deck.

Some of the Chance cards say that you can keep them to use later. If you draw one of these cards, you can choose to hold them and use them on a future turn. After you use them, you will return them to the bottom of the Chance deck.

Community Chest
When you land on a Community Chest space, you will draw a card from the top of the Community Chest deck. You will read the card and take the corresponding action. Then place the card on the bottom of the Community Chest deck.

Some Community Chest cards allow you to hold them for a future turn. When you choose to use the card, you will place it on the bottom of the Community Chest deck.

Free Parking
The Free Parking space has no special action when you land on it. Your turn just ends.

GO
When you land on or pass GO, you will collect M20 from the Bank.

Go To Jail
Whenever you land on the Go to Jail space, you immediately place your token on the Jail space. You do not collect M20 for passing GO. Your turn then immediately ends.
When in Jail you can still collect money from players who visit your Destinations, but you will not collect Experience Chips.
You can get out of Jail in three ways:
First you can pay M15 at the beginning of your turn to the Bank. You will then roll the dice and move around the gameboard.
Next you can use a Get Out of Jail Free card at the start of your turn. You can acquire one of these cards by drawing it or buying/trading for it from another player. After you use the card place it on the bottom of the corresponding deck. You will then roll the dice and move around the gameboard.
Finally you can roll doubles on your turn. If you roll doubles, you immediately leave jail and move the number of spaces that you rolled. After you take the corresponding action of the space you landed on, your turn ends. You can try to roll for doubles for three turns. If you fail on your third attempt you will pay the Bank M15 and use your last roll to move out of Jail.

Whenever you leave Jail, you will take an Experience Chip. Should you be in Jail at the end of the game, you will collect an Experience Chip.

Just Visiting
Should you land on Just Visiting, you take no special action. Make sure you place your token on the Just visiting section instead of the Jail section of the space.
Can’t Pay
Should you draw a Chance or Community Chest card that forces you to pay and you don’t have enough money, you will have to try and pay as much of what you owe as you can. If you don’t have enough cash, you will have to sell Destination cards. You can either sell Destinations back to the Bank for the face value or you can sell them to other players to any agreed-upon price.

Should you not have enough money after you sell all of your Destinations, you do not have to pay back the rest you owe.
The instructions don’t make any mention of you having to sell Destinations in order to pay the visit cost should you land on another player’s Destination. Therefore I am assuming that you just don’t have to pay another player if you don’t have enough cash on hand.
Winning Monopoly For Millennials
Monopoly For Millennials can end in one of two ways:
- All of the Destinations have been discovered/owned by a player.
- All of the Experience Chips have been taken from the gameboard.
Each player flips over all of the Experience Chips they acquired during the game. Each chip is worth points equal to the amount printed on it. Should a chip be red, it is worth negative points.

After totaling up all of your Experience Chips, you will find out how much Experience you acquire from each of your Destination cards. At the bottom of each card it says how much Experience the card is worth at the end of the game. Should you own both Destinations of the same color, you will acquire more Experience from the cards.

Each player totals up the Experience they acquired from the Experience Chips and their Destination cards. The player with the most total Experience wins the game. If there is a tie, the tied player with more money wins the game.
