Setup For Guess Who? Junior

  • There are two different levels in Guess Who? Junior. You must choose which of the two levels you are going to play. Level One is simpler and is recommended for younger children. Level two is a little more complex and is recommended for older children.
  • Place the gameboard in the middle of the table. If you are playing Level One you can choose to either use the red or blue side of the board. If you are playing Level Two, layout the board so you can see both the red and blue sides of the board.
  • If you are playing Level One, sort the cards by their colors (on the back). Take the cards that match the color of the board that you are using. For the Level Two game, you will use all of the cards.
  • Shuffle all of the cards you are using making sure they all face the same direction. In Level One you will just place the cards on the table so the clue side is face up. For Level Two you will place the cards in the card holder so the “clues” end is at the top.
  • Each player chooses a color and takes all of the guess tokens that match their color.
  • If you are playing Level Two, set the die on the table. The die is not used in Level One.
  • The youngest player starts the game. Play moves clockwise throughout the game.

Level One

All of the players will look at the card on top of the pile in the middle of the table. One of the players should read out loud all three clues.

Level one clue card
For this turn the players are looking for an animal with two feet, that lives on land, and is brown.

Each player has to decide which of the animals on the board they think the three clues are referring to. When everyone is ready, you will count to three together. At three all of the players place one of their guess tokens on the animal they think the clues are referencing. Multiple players can place their guess token on the same animal.

Once all of the players have placed their guess token on an animal, a player flips over the top card from the pile. An animal is pictured on the back of the card. This is the animal that the clues were referring to.

Each player that guessed the correct animal, keeps their token on the animal. Anyone who guessed incorrectly, takes their guess token back. Set aside the card that was just used.

Comparing players guesses to the correct answer
The above card was for a kangaroo. The green, red, and yellow players placed their guess tokens on the correct space. They will keep their guess token on the kangaroo space. The blue player thought the clues were for a sloth. They will have to take their guess token back.

The players will then start the next turn using the card that is now on the top of the pile.

Players will keep playing rounds until one player has correctly guessed five animals. That player has won the game.

Winning Level One
The green player has correctly placed all five of their guess tokens. They have won the game.

Level Two

To begin each turn the current player rolls the die. You can either roll a one, two, or three. The number you roll determines the number of clues that players will receive this turn.

The top card is pulled out of the holder enough that a number of clues equal to the number rolled are revealed. All of the players should be able to see the clues. A player may want to read out all of the clues as well.

Showing two clues after rolling two on the die
The current player rolled a two on the die. Only the first two clues are revealed for this turn’s card. The players get the clues that the animal is green and it lives in the water.

The players will then analyze the clues and decide which of the animals on the board they match. When everyone is ready, there is a countdown from three. All of the players then place one of their guess tokens on one of the spaces on the board. Multiple players can play a token to the same space.

Once everyone has placed a guess token, remove the current card from the box and flip it over so the animal side is visible. Any player that guessed the correct animal, keeps their guess token on the corresponding space. Anyone that guessed incorrectly, takes their guess token back.

Players giving correct and incorrect guesses for the current card
The above card was for a turtle. The green and blue players correctly guessed turtle, so they get to keep their guess tokens on the board. Yellow guessed frog, and green guessed alligator. Since both were wrong, they will have to take their guess tokens back.

Return the card to the bottom of the card holder. The next player starts the next turn by rolling the die.

The first player to correctly guess five animals wins Level Two of Guess Who? Junior.

Winning Level Two Guess Who? Junior
The red player has successfully placed all five of their guess tokens. They have won the game.
