Objective
The objective of Ellen’s Games: Danger Word is for your team to acquire five Danger Word cards by guessing the winning word while avoiding the danger words.
Setup
Shuffle the Danger Word cards and place them face down on the table. The players should divide into two teams.
For each round both teams choose one player to be the clue giver and one player to be the guesser. These roles will change throughout the game. The clue givers should sit next to one another where both players can read a card at the same time. The player who watches the most daytime television goes first each round.
How to Play Ellen’s Games: Danger Word
To start each round one of the clue givers draws a card. They will look at the card along with the clue giver from the other team. On the card there will be a winning word and a danger word. The objective is to get your guesser to guess the winning word while avoiding the danger word.
Starting with the player that starts the round, each clue giver has to come up with a clue to give to their guesser. The clue should help them guess the winning word. The clue can only be one word. When giving a clue, you can build off previous clues. You cannot say any part of the winning word or the danger word. Clues cannot rhyme with either the winning or danger word either.

Making a Guess
After a clue is given the guesser that is on the same team as the clue giver gets to make a guess (one word). Depending on their guess, one of three things may happen.
If they don’t say the winning word or the danger word, play passes to the other team. The other team’s clue giver gets to give a clue and their guesser makes a guess. This continue until one of the guessers either say the winning or danger word.
If any player says the danger word, the round immediately ends. Neither team wins the card. The player that said the danger word uses the stamp on their hand/arm.

Should one of the guessers say the winning word, their team takes the Danger Word card. They will add the card to any cards they collected in previous rounds. The round then ends.

Another round is then played. A new player on each team is chosen as the clue giver and guesser.
Winning the Game
The players will keep playing rounds trying to guess the winning words while avoiding the danger words. Ellen’s Games: Danger Word can end in one of two ways.
A team wins the game if they collect five Danger Word cards.

Should one of the teams acquire three stamps between their players, they lose the game. The other team wins the game.
Variant Rule
To make the game more challenging you can choose to use a timer. The game recommends a 15 or 30 second timer. You can either use a timer or your phone.
The game is played mostly the same. After a clue giver gives a clue, the guesser has until the timer runs out to make their guess. If they don’t make a guess before the timer runs out, their team automatically loses the round. The other team takes the danger card.
