Playing Awkward Family Photos Greatest Hits

Choosing A Photo

You will begin your turn as The Critic by taking one of the photo cards from the box. You can look at both sides of the card and decide which picture you would like to use for the round. Place the picture you have chosen face up where everyone can see it.

Choosing A Photo Card
The Critic has decided to use this photo card for the round.

Submitting A Movie Line Card

All of the players, besides The Critic, will then look at the photo and the cards in their hand. They will choose one of the cards from their hand that they think provides the best caption for the image. Once you have chosen a card, you will place it facedown on the table.

Submitting A Movie Line Card
Based on the photo card chosen for the round, this player decided to submit the movie line card “You talkin’ to me?”. For illustrative purposes the card is face up, but in the game you would submit the card facedown.

Choosing the Winning Movie Line Card

Once all of the players, besides The Critic, have chosen a card for the round; The Critic shuffles all of the cards without looking at them.

The Critic will then read each card one at a time. You should look at the genre of the card and try to read it in a way that fits the movie that the quote came from.

Choosing the Best Movie Line in Awkward Family Photos Greatest Hits
For this round the players submitted these five movie line cards. The Critic now has to decide which card they think fits the photo card the best.

After reading all of the cards, The Critic will choose which one they liked the most. They can use whatever criteria they want to make their decision. They will reveal their choice to the rest of the players. The player that submitted the chosen response takes the photo card as a reward for winning the round.

Choosing A Winning Movie Line Card
The Critic chose the movie line card “You talkin’ to me?” as the winner of the round. The player that submitted the card gets to take the photo card as the reward for winning the round.

Cleanup

All of the Movie Line cards used in the round are discarded. Everyone who played a Movie Line card this round draws a new one so they have seven cards in their hand.

The player to the left of the current Critic, becomes the Critic for the next turn.

At the end of the first two rounds (all of the players have played as The Critic), each player can choose up to three of their Movie Line cards to discard and replace with new cards.
