Rich Uncle Pennybags AKA Mr. Monopoly Amigurumi Pattern: Geeky Crochet

Rich Uncle Pennybags AKA Mr. Monopoly Amigurumi Pattern: Geeky Crochet

Ever since it was created back in 1935, Monopoly has been arguably the most popular board game of all time. When you think of Monopoly the first thing that probably comes to mind is the game’s mascot Rich Uncle Pennybags also referred to as Mr. Monopoly. For this week’s Geeky Crochet I decided to create an amigurumi of Rich Uncle Pennybags. This pattern is based off of the older version of the character but can be adapted to the newer version of the character with a couple small changes.

The Rich Uncle Pennybags/Mr. Monopoly amigurumi stands approximately nine inches tall. I would classify the pattern as moderately difficult since you have to make quite a few different pieces but the stitches used are pretty basic.

Note: This pattern is provided for free so I would appreciate that it not be used for commercial use. You may not copy this pattern and then try to sell it. I would appreciate that this pattern not be copied and posted in its’ entirety on other websites. Feel free to post images of your completed works wherever you want but a link back to this page would be appreciated.

What Do You Need to Know

Difficulty: Moderate

In order to follow the Rich Uncle Pennybags pattern you will need to know how to do the following:

What You Need

Pattern

Crocheted Body Mr. Monopoly

You will start with the peach yarn.

Round 1: CH x 2 (2 stitches)

Switch to the white yarn.

Rounds 21-28: SC x 24 (24 stitches)

Round 29: SC x 24 – Switch between white and gray for the following stitches: white 1, gray 2-17, white 18-20, gray 21-22, white 23-24.

Round 31: SC x 24 – Stitches 1-2 are white and the rest are gray.

Before continuing I would recommend adding the safety eyes between rounds 8-10 about four to five stitches apart. When placing the eyes make sure the two small white patches from the last three rounds are in the front. I would also recommend starting to add the stuffing at this point because it otherwise will be harder to add stuffing to the head.

You will use the gray yarn for the rest of the body.
